Submarine Force Museum & USS Nautilus

The Submarine Force Museum, located on the Thames River in Groton, Connecticut, maintains the world's finest collection of submarine artifacts. It is the only submarine museum operated by the United States Navy, and is the primary repository for artifacts, documents, and photographs relating to U.S. Submarine Force history. The USS Nautilus joined the Submarine Force Museum on April 11, 1986 and remains open to the public as the first and finest exhibit of its kind in the world – providing an exciting, visible link between yesterday's Submarine Force and the Submarine Force of tomorrow.

FAQ

  • Is there an admission charge?
  • No. The museum and parking are free.
  • Do I need a reservation?
  • Reservations are not required however, the museum asks groups of 25 or more to call ahead and let us know when you plan to visit.
  • Is there food in the Museum?
  • No food or drink are allowed in the museum.

    While visiting the Museum, visit our "90 North Café" located at the north end of the parking lot. Open daily from 11-4, the café offers light snacks and cold drinks seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Cold Drink self-vending machines also available.

    Feel free to bring your own picnic lunch and enjoy a picnic in our picnic area on the scenic Thames River.
